Geek on Two Wheels

It’s been decided: we’re moving back in with my parents.

Now, just to be clear, there isn’t anything wrong with our current arrangements. However, some family-related things came up, and, despite being a little crowded, it was decided that it would be best for all parties involved (except my awesome landlords) that my family is under the same roof again, plus, of course, Missy.

The plan is for us to finish moving before the end of March, and have the place ready for the next tenants to move in for April.

It’s a nice 2-bedroom basement suite at the Kensington Ave. and Winch St. intersection. We’re currently paying $950 a month, utilities included. The space is perfect for two people, although it’s best suited for a couple as one room is quite bigger than the other. There is plenty of space for a couple plus a roomie.

Despite being in a weird part of north Burnaby, we eventually discovered the place to be quite convenient as the 136 can be caught 4 houses away, giving easy access to both Skytrain and Brentwood Mall. It’s about 15 minutes walk to either Sperling or Holdom station when buses don’t quite line up, and only slightly longer to walk to Hastings. If you’re too lazy to even walk that, there is another bus that runs a block away that will take you to Kensington Square.

There is in-suite laundry (which is all kinds of awesome) and pets are allowed, as long as they aren’t noisy. Both the landlords and next-suite-neighbour owns dogs, so severely allergic people may want to stay away. The place was also renovated just before we moved in.

The landlords are super nice. We keep three bikes and a pack of rodents indoors, and there’s never been a complaint. Plus, since it’s already paid for, I’ll throw in 5 months of cable Internet for dirt-cheap.
