Who wants our place?

2007-02-18 (Sunday)

It’s been decided: we’re moving back in with my parents.

Now, just to be clear, there isn’t anything wrong with our current arrangements. However, some family-related things came up, and, despite being a little crowded, it was decided that it would be best for all parties involved (except my awesome landlords) that my family is under the same roof again, plus, of course, Missy.

Cycling to work?

2007-02-15 (Thursday)

Now that the weather is starting to get better, I’ve been thinking more and more about bringing my bike to work, whether to do some dirt jumping on the way home, or actually commute most of the way there and back.

After poking around some in Google Maps, it would appear that, following established bike routes, it’s less than 25km to pedal to my office, which should be doable in under an hour and a half. This is not much worse than taking transit during peak hours, in addition to not needing to worry about unexpected traffic delays crossing the bridge. I think I will have to try this on a Friday sometime when TGIF destroys the prospect of getting a full seven hours of work done anyways.

While looking up the bike routes, I’ve discovered the Central Valley Greenway Capital Campaign, which is currently lobbying for, and constructing, a trans-Lower Mainland urban trail. It looks promising—I can’t wait.

Rain rain, go away…

Skiing in the rain isn’t great. Skiing in the rain after a good day and night of snow is even worse because all the fresh powder turns into slush.

Curse you, mild Vancouver weather!
