Halloween costume, and construction thereof

2005-10-28 (Friday)

It is now almost 4:30, and I’ve finally put away the scissors and tape. I’m going to call my Halloween costume finished, for now, before I end up staying up all night constructing more things out of construction paper.

This, hands down, has to be the most ridiculous projects I’ve attempted to do at wee-hours of the night. The result is, lets just say, unusual. My god, what have I done…

Transporting my costume to school will be interesting, since I can’t actually wear it with a backpack. Also, the forecast calls for rain. I’m not entirely sure it will fit inside garbage bags. Yes, I said garbage bags, as in, more than one.

I suppose I will have to sleep on it. I’m going to need to rest properly for the shinanigans that are going to happen on the Friday before Halloween.

emerge mozilla-thunderbird, take two

2005-10-27 (Thursday)

I found myself re-emerging Mozilla Thunderbird for the second time tonight. As it turns out, the calendar extension, when compiled from souce, as included in gentoo’s mozilla-thunderbird package, is very unstable. So unstable, in fact, that it fails to function at all aside from opening.

An expected risk with using alpha software, of course.

Thankfully, things are back to normal now.

Thinking about midterms, or lack thereof

2005-10-21 (Friday)

Just just occured to me, for the second time tonight, that I’ve been completely neglecting my LING 220 class, in which I have a midterm for next Monday.

I suppose it’s a side effect of having an intro-level class only once a week where we learn about 30 minutes of new material per every 3 hours of class. I suppose I will have to start memorizing the IPA symbols for English consonants and vowels or something…

Finally finished Freespace 2

2005-10-20 (Thursday)

Holy crap, that was a long game. For a shooter anyways.

Quite refreshing to play through a game that actually attempts at having some depth. Too bad it’s now abandon-ware and the multiplayer match-up system no long exists.

Torpedoes away!

2005-10-17 (Monday)

Freespace 2 is an awesome game.

What’s even better is that my hardware can actually run the game with the graphics turned all the way up, since it’s so old.

Too bad they don’t make space sims like this anymore…

It’s like a candy store for big kids!

2005-10-14 (Friday)

… well, the kind of big kids that really like to play outside, anyway.

I just spent over $120 at MEC today. That place is dangerous. It’s like a blackhole for money.

On the plus side, I now have new socks, a long sleeve bike jersey, and a headlamp. I can finally give night riding a try.

Also, the headlamp’s packaging comes in a plastic-packaging-of-doom that was actually easy to open. Infact, you can open it with just your hands. Amazing!

Sweet, sweet beer…

I am tipsy.

That is all.
